Several months ago I bought an extra firm bed thinking it would help my back pain. But, my back problems only got worse. My back would start bothering me from the minute I laid down. When I got up in the morning I was so stiff that I could hardly walk for 30 minutes. I knew that I would have to spend another 1,000 plus for another bed. But, before spending that kind of money I thought I would try a memory foam pad.
I placed the 3 inch memory foam under my quilted mattress pad and went to bed for my first nights sleep. When I first lay down I was expecting my back to start hurting, but that did not happen. The next morning there was hardly any stiffness at all. Even my RLS (restless leg syndrome) was a little less bothersome. I have slept on the *new bed* for several nights now and I am really impressed. It did not get rid of all my problems, but it did ease them to where I sleep much better now.
I would recommend trying this memory foam pad if you have any problems that interfere with your sleep. I found the foam made my bed softer and more comfortable, yet also supported my back. The only thing is you have to get use to it. When you lay down you sink into the bed and the rest of the bed is up around you. When you turn over it is a little like rolling uphill. Also, the foam makes the bed slightly warmer. So, if you buy it give it several nights and you will probably find that getting comfortable with the feeling of this pad will take no time at all. And if it helps get a better and more restful night sleep, you will find it is well worth it. Plus, it might save you a whole lot of money for a new bed.

My husband and I bought this Memory Foam mattress topper after sleeping on one at my parents' house. I was amazed at how comfortable it was. I expected something like an egg-crate mattress topper. There is no comparison. This mattress topper makes our already comfortable mattress infinitely better. It is soft and supports your body in all the right places. I don't need a pillow between my knees to sleep comfortably anymore. And I don't need an extra pillow under my head either. This product is well worth the price. I highly recommend it. It does give off an unpleasant odor when new. It is recommended that the product is left in a well ventilated room for a long period of time - two weeks, I think. But we don't have any place in our home to leave it lying flat for that long. I unwrapped it and laid it out on our mattress, opened all the windows and turned the ceiling fan on high. It still smelled 8 hours later but we made the bed and slept on it anyway. It wasn't too bad. My dad made the mistake of trying to re-fold theirs after he unwrapped it and let it flatten out and the foam tore all the way through. So when the instructions tell you not to try to re-fold it...there's a good reason. We've had ours for about a month and we love it. My parents have been sleeping on theirs for 3 years and still love it as much as when it was new.

I bought this for my guest bed. The mattress is pretty old and was given to me several years ago. Since then, my mother has injured her back, so when they came to stay Thanksgiving, she complained that the bed was very uncomfortable. The next week I ordered this mattress topper, and the next time they came to spend the night, my mom overslept because she was so comfortable.
I will say that the way it was wrapped almost required a roadmap for getting it out of the plastic and tape, and it took 4-5 days for the "new foam" smell to go away, but it was cut perfectly to my king size mattress and everyone marvels at how comfortable that bed is now. I already have 3 friends considering buying one for themselves.

OMG! this is the best solution if you don't want a new mattress. I have had pain in my shoulder and hip due to the mattress I currently have. I've flipped it turned it and still woke up stiff every morning and pain usually carried on through the day. This was my last solution before going to an orthopedic doctor. Unbelivable, the very first night I slept through and woke without pain and was able to get up without hobbling around. It is like sleeping on a cloud. Also, some reviewers said there was a smell - I smelled nothing. When it arrived I put it on my bed and allowed it to stretch for 3 hours. I made the bed and my sheets still fit perfectly. As far as getting hot at night - I'm 50 so yes I run hot. I do not have the feeling of it being any hotter at all. I usually don't post reviews but in this case I had to because I cannot believe how it changed me overnight. Final note I did (as I always do) a ton of research on foam mattress toppers and found this to be one of the very best around. Also, the customer service is great. They left a phone message telling me the item had shipped and also sent a postcard with their customer support number and hours of operation as they want me to be 100% satisfied. You don't get that too often. You will love this mattress - hands down!!

After sleeping on a department store "memory foam" for a year, this was a blessing. It was actually 3 inches deep. I took it out of it's wrapper (no easy task) and let it lay flat for about 8 hours. It was completely formed and ready to be put on the bed. There was no smell and the cover was a nice touch. Two reasons this got only 4 stars... 1... it is incrediblly hot to sleep on. Almost impossible in the summer because it holds your body heat. 2... after 7 months of sleeping on it, I can already see where it is layed on a lot and where it isn't. I can tell this may be a yearly purchase which may get a little pricey after a while. Only time will tell. My kids love it, I love it, my husband loves it... We got one for my parents, they love it too.
